Providing “Natural, Drug Free Treatments”
Finally, help for children and adults struggling with learning disabilities!
Also, a new way to enhance the gifted learner’s potential!
Evaluation Services LLC, which uses BrainTrain software programs, is the only Advanced Certified Cognitive Training Provider in the Dallas Metroplex. The BrainTrain software provides a scientifically proven way to work with ADD, ADHD, learning disabled and dyslexic students to the “academically gifted” learner with a natural, drug free approach. These computer exercises strengthen the essential cognitive skills needed to enable an individual to become more successful in school and in life.
Evaluation Services believes in the “whole person” approach. Each new client visit begins with a Comprehensive Interview based on information provided by the family on the developmental, physical, social/emotional, and academic history of the client. Next an IQ screening test and the computerized Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test are individually administered to the client. The Naglieri Nonverbal Intelligence Test (forms A and B) assesses nonverbal reasoning and general problem solving abilities. The IVA+ CPT reveals how an individual’s brain is functioning and identifies strengths and weaknesses. Finally, the test results are reviewed with the client and his/her family and treatment options are explored.
Cognitive (Working Memory) Training Programs are customized for each client to develop the areas in need of improvement. Utilizing the BrainTrain computerized training modules, the individual progresses through a series of specialized brain "exercises" which gradually increase in complexity and difficulty over time. In general, the standard course of treatment requires a commitment of 22 sessions or 11 weeks. Training sessions are typically attended two times per week for 1 hour per session. Halfway through the program, a progress report is provided to measure an individual’s performance and give information as to whether training is on track. During the final session, a different version of the IQ screening test is administered and cumulative progress graphs for each of the cognitive skills trained are provided to determine if further training is necessary.
Typically, significant progress is made during the training program is all areas identified in the initial diagnostic testing process. Most individuals need little, if any follow up beyond this initial period. Think of Cognitive (Working Memory) Training as “exercise” for your brain; once you have developed the muscle and know how to properly use it and since you will keep using it, it will stay in shape!
